MO Summer Tour

So, those of you who are my friend over on the MOST understand that this is a. because I heart M.O. and b. because it's an order and LJ is a great outlet like that (and I'm sure I'll see similar from you guys :D)

Anyway, there's this great band called Manchester Orchestra from Georgia that's touring this summer with another band called Colour Revolt. It's their first headlining tour and they're such an amazing band. If you haven't heard them, your going to need to head over to their myspace or their website and check them out.

You know how we all have music for special purposes? Like there's that one band we listen to in order to make us feel infinite, that other band that you listen to when you're reading, that other band to make a bad day good and that other band you jam to in the car? Well, Manchester Orchestra encompasses all of those aspects for me. I haven't found a time where they're not good to listen to and that's pretty hard to say because I'm a musical elitist and all.

So with that, here's summer tour information and I expect you all to at least give them a chance. Hey, tickets are cheap. Me and my debt-student-loan-fucked-up-the-ass-negative-balance-bank-account can afford eight dollar's.

Upcoming Shows ( view all )
Jul 27 2007 9:00P
The Complex (co-headline with Colour Revolt) Memphis, Tennessee
Jul 28 2007 9:00P
Off Broadway (co-headline with Colour Revolt) St. Louis, Missouri
Jul 29 2007 9:30P
Jackpot Music Hall (co-headline with Colour Revolt) Lawrence, Kansas
Jul 31 2007 6:00P
The Picador (co-headline with Colour Revolt) Iowa City, Iowa
Aug 1 2007 7:00P
Varsity (co-headline with Colour Revolt) Minneapolis, Minnesota
Aug 2 2007 7:30P
House Cafe (co-headline with Colour Revolt) DeKalb, Illinois
Aug 3 2007 11:00P
House of Blues Back Porch Stage (w.
I've Got To Take What I Make

Happy pills from the broken foot and boredom has gotten to me. Unimpressive music survey (that is, by definition, lame) follows:

What was the last concert you attended?
The Snake The Cross The Crown, Manchester Orchestra, Piebald, & mewithoutyou. As Heather and I were discussing, that was one of the solidest line-ups in a rather long time.

How many people were there?
A room full.

What bands have you seen in concert the most, and how many times?
Brand New--6 times.

Do you have any set lists? From what bands?
I have a set list from the last two times that I saw Brand New (Bowery Ballroom & Gramercy Theater). Though I do think I risked losing my dignity in order to obtain the latter of those two, it's nice to be able to say 'yeah, that piece of paper over there is from the best show I've ever been to.'

Are there any CDs in close proximity to you? Which ones?
Elliot Smith's 'New Moon,' Jesus Lizard 'Bang' and 'Goat,' and a bunch more. Those are just the few on my desk within jewel cases (a rare phenomenon for my record collection, I must say).

What band are you in the mood to see live right this second?
Would anyone be amazed if I said Brand New? However, more accurately, I've been listening to Modest Mouse on repeat and really don't want to wait to see them.

Have you ever been on a tour bus?
No.

Have you ever partied with a band?
Yes.

How many states/provinces have you been to concerts in?
3 states...I think it's only three.

What bands did you see live the month of April?
Brand New
Manchester Orchestra
Johnny Action Figure
Newfoundglory (oh, free concerts lol)
...wow, April was a slow month.

What CD are you addicted to at the moment?
Interpol (Antics) or anything Modest Mouse.

Who is one band that you used to like, but now you can't stand?
Oh, there are so many.

Have you ever been on anyone's guest list? Who's?
Yes, I've got friends.

Last band person that you got a picture with?
Oh I don't remember. It's rather possible I haven't gotten a picture with a band member, nor taken one, since WAY back when I took a photo of Heather with Andrew of SoCo/JM.

Do you consider yourself a groupie?
Not really. I'm not interested in sleeping with people solely because they're capable of playing music. Anyone can do that; it really doesn't make a person inordinately special.

If you were to name a boy and a girl after any band....what would it be?
I don't think I could do that because very few bands I know lend themselves to that type of thing. Though, I could probably name a child after band member (though, it would be because I liked the name...I mean, I'm rather fond of the names Andrew, Michael, Jesse, and Brandon. Yet, I can't think of many bands that don't have at least a single one of those names in them).

How old were you when you went to your first concert?
Oh to be 14 again.

Who was it?
Green Day/Blink-182/Saves the Day

What bands haven't you seen yet that you want to see?
RADIOHEAD.

Are you wearing a band shirt right now?
Of course, I own little else. (Repping the Manch. Orc. shirt)

What song is on your myspace right now?
I have not a clue.

Have you ever met that band?
Perhaps

Do you ever do anything crazy at shows?
Well, if I recall right, I do believe I offered a combination of sex, my friend, money, or anything else imaginable for a set list. Other than that, just the usual.

What are your favorite venues to go to shows at?
I love Bowery Ballroom. Knitting isn't bad either. Maxwell's is fun too. Loved Continental best before they closed it though. Maybe even CBGB's.

What band do you have the most performance pictures of?
That I have personally taken...the Offspring.

Would you ever get a tattoo representing a band?
Perhaps. When I was younger, I always thought about getting the Offspring symbol (which I'm now glad I didn't) but now I don't know. I feel anxious about the idea of getting something that permanent for a band when in a year they'll probably put out an album I hate.

How many concerts do you average a year?
10-20 or so. This year has been a rather short amount due to the fact that Reading isn't the saddest excuse for a city ever.

Upcoming shows?
As Tall As Lions; Kevin Devine/Jesse Lacey tour in July. Warped Tour (because we're still young at heart, apparently...well, Bayside is playing). Perhaps Straylight.

List every band you've EVER seen live, no matter how obscure.
Nobody has time for this (it's over 250+)

What Would You Do If You Won The Lottery

What if you won the Lotto Jackpot of 50 million dollars..

First Reaction
What would be your first reaction once you figure you have all the numbers?
It would probably take awhile to hit me...

How many times would you check to see if the numbers are correct?
I'd probably check a handful of times...

It is 11:00pm. Who would you call to let them know the big news?
My mother, I'd text Heather & a few other people...

Would you be able to sleep knowing you are an overnight millionaire?
I'd probably be able to sleep for the first time in FOREVER knowing that my life was now worry-free.

How would you keep the winning number safe?
I'd probably put it right next to my laptop...yeah, that works.

Accepting The Check & Press Release
How would you go to pick up the check? (Form of transportation)
Subway...

Who would go with you to pick up the check?
Probably by myself; maybe with my mother.

When you speak to the press, you have any messages to relay to the public?
I would not speak to the press

Any messages you want to relay to friends/family?
n/a

Any messages you want to relay to your sworn enemies & exes?
n/a

Time For Change?
Would you change your phone number?
Perhaps...most likely not...everyone who matters knows it.

Would you change your email address?
God no.

Would you take out your MySpace page or put it on private?
Its already on private..

Would you move out of town/state/country?
If I won the hardcore lottery, I'd get a property in lower Manhattan & then my house in Long Island.

Would you welcome any more media attention?
no attention

New Help?
Would you get a financial advisor?
Maybe.

Would you hire a personal attorney?
No

Would you get a personal assistant?
No

Would you get a maid/butler?
No

Would you hire a personal chef?
No

Would you hire a personal chauffeur?
No

Would you hire any other kind of help?
No

Investing
Would you invest in the stock market?
No

Would you get life insurance?
Maybe

Would you get CD's/mutual funds/savings bond/etc?
Yes

Will you invest in Real Estate?
Yes

Will you invest in your own business?
Technically. Myself and Heather would start our own record label/recording studio.

Will you write out a will? If so, who will be the beneficiaries?
my family..

Spreading the wealth
Would you donate money to charity? If so, which one?
Diabetes Foundations, Ovarian & Breast Cancer...

Would you give money to siblings?
I'd give a little to Andrew, sure.

Would you give money to your parents?
Immediately.

Would you give money to friends?
I'd give money to Heather & her family, Becky, Melissa and a very small handful of others.

Would you give money to strangers?
I'd probably start giving more money to people on the street.

How would you handle requests for money (from anybody: family/friends/strangers)?
I wouldn't.

Enjoying the bread!!!
What would be your dream home?
It really wouldn't be big. It would be quaint and of relative size, near the beach and with grass in front and a tree. I wouldn't want anything bigger than my parents house.

What kind of car(s) you would get (if any)?
I wouldn't get another car. If anything, I might like...actually take better care of mine. Maybe I would buy another Saturn and get ride of the one I have now.

Would you live in a city, country or suburban environment?
I suppose more suburban environment than anything else.

Would you buy a boat?
No

Would you buy a plane?
No

Having all that money, what are some things you would probably have a habit of buying alot?
Well, currently I spend money on concert tickets, CD's, books, etc. So honestly, I'd probably buy a new laptop, a better electric guitar and an a/e guitar, my digital camera, all the concert tickets and CD's I want and then that would be it.

Would you buy any out of the ordinary animals?
I'd buy more kittens.

What would you do a lot more of now that money is not an issue?
Live. Breathe.

Would you get cosmetic surgery of any kind?
No.

Would you still gamble?
Maybe.

Would you throw "All Out" parties?
No.

Would you travel more?
Maybe. I'd probably just buy an Amtrack ticket to California and be SO SO SO happy. Oh, and me and Shrew would stalk Brand New for like...a week...before we got bored of it and went home lol.

How would you decorate your dream home?
Moderately. I don't really care about appearence.

Would you bling yourself out with expensive jewelry?
No

What other things would you buy?
Not really anything.

The New Millionaire You
Do you think money will change you?
I'd be A LOT happier knowing I had no more debt.

Would you be more social or more to yourself?
I'd be more social because I could afford it.

Would you be close to people you was close to before?
Yes, I need them.

How would you react to people whose attempting to befriend you?
Eh...

Would you let it be known that you're a millionaire to the world?
Hell no.

How long do you think the money will last you?
It would last my life.

Will you be living the picture perfect life now that you're rich?
Yes

If you are single, would you get involved with anyone exclusively?
What would money have to do with love?

If you're married or taken, do you think the relationship could withstand the new found wealth?
yea it would make it better

Will you tip more, less, or nothing when you're out? (To like waitresses & valet)
what they deserve..

How will your attitude be towards others?
the same

Do you think people will hate the new you?
I wouldn't change

End of Survey
Was this survey too long?
No...

On a rate of 1 - 10 (10 being the best), how would you rate this survey?
10

Was it fun taking this survey?
Yea

Why did you take this survey?
Cuz I was bored and its been a while

Does it make you wish you won the lottery?
Yea...lol

Does it inspire you to play the lotto to try your luck?
I always play lol.

100 Things

This was written a few years ago. For some reason, I got to urge to edit it tonight.

A 101 Random Facts About Me

1. After years of competition, I can say with 88 percent certainty that "Cotton Crush" by Kevin Devine is quite possibly my favorite song.
2. I'm a published photographer
3. The debt I bear weigh on me though I pretend often they don't.
4. I'm addicted to Aqua Teen Hunger Force
5. My favorite & lucky number is in fact 5
6. I will never & have never had a one-night stand
7. I'm honestly excited to be a ex-philosophy major (not so much the ex part anymore)
8. When I get uber bored, I look through source codes to find problems with them.
9. Because of AP literature way back in HS, there are three books I know better than their own authors: All of the Oedipus Rex trilogy, the Bible & Hamlet.
10. When it comes to long distances, I'm colorblind
11. I can't watch the news because it makes me really upset & anxious
12. My kitten, Bela Dexter is named after a character in a Lermentov novel & the lead singer of the Offspring
13. I designed my own tattoos
14. I'm allergic to coconut
15. I choose not to go to Juliard University
16. I don't like to wear shoes--it's a stretch to get me into them.
17. My first real concert was Saves the Day/Green Day & Blink 182.
18. I would marry & or be eternally greatful to anyone who ever gave me a mixtape they made
19. I'm a sucker for brown eyes
20. The walls of my bedroom in the house I lived in for 18 years were Orchid Bloom
21. I'd rather an alcoholic beverage than any drug.
22. Songs infinitely remind me of moments
23. I have better credit than a 50-year-old homeowner...well, I used to.
24. Diet Pepsi is a food group
25. As is coffee
26. &&& Barnes & Noble/Starbucks runs
27. I'd always rather be on the beach at night.
28. I've accidentally eaten Sulfer before...like whole
29. My life is devoted to making playlist
30. I adore the smell of turpentine
31. &&& gasoline
32. I adore the smell of snow...trust me, it does smell.
33.
